The Yoga of Awareness

Kundalini Yoga is the original of the twenty-two schools of yoga and is called the “mother” yoga.  Kundalini Yoga is incomparable to other forms and works directly to stimulate and revitalize your immune, nervous and glandular systems while helping to rid the body of toxins and negative emotions.

The word "kundalini” means awareness and manifesting the hidden potential of that awareness. In the yogic tradition Kundalini energy is portrayed as a coiled serpent lying dormant at the base of the spine.  To raise the Kundalini means to awaken and enliven this creative energy. 

Yogi Bhajan aka Yogi Ji

Kundalini Yoga as taught in this class is based on the great wealth of teachings of Yogi Bhajan, Ph.D.  From the quiet beginnings of a few to the large gatherings at a Solstice Celebration, Yogi Bhajan has brought forth a science of yoga that was unheard of in the west. For over 30 years Yogi Bhajan studied and traveled in India. He had dedicated his life to sharing ancient technologies that can help us to live in a happy healthy consciousness.  






In addition, because Kundalini Yoga incorporates the physical aspects of yoga, along with the mind and spirit, into an integrated system, you gain a working understanding of the mind/body connection.
The meditations you will learn will improve your concentration and focus which will improve your ability to function at your best.  Finally, you will feel refreshed and attentive after each session indicating a stronger and more balanced immune and nervous system.
Kundalini Yoga has been practiced for centuries in India and other parts of the East.  Hatha Yoga (purely physical yoga) was designed for the monks and yogis who were able to withdraw from the world for their spiritual practice. 
Both Kundalini Yoga and Hatha Yoga bring you to the same place — Kundalini Yoga just does it quicker.  You can often feel the powerful effects of Kundalini Yoga after just a few minutes of practice.
